Program Description

As yoga has exploded in global popularity, its incredible benefits can be lost or diluted as the practice gets passed down. Often, contemporary classes focus on the attainment of gymnastic-style advanced asana or increased heart rate for fitness gains. But yoga is really just this truth: we are already the power of the cosmos, arising as pure intelligence just as we are.

Join the celebrated practitioner Mark Whitwell to learn the ancient, key principles taught by T. Krishnamacharya, the teacher of teachers. Tap into a direct lineage to make your asana and pranayama efficient, powerful, enjoyable, and safe.

You will integrate heartfelt discussion and accessible practice to:

  • Clarify how asana is in essence a full-body prayer to life
  • Increase direct intimacy with the power of life that arises through all that is
  • Explore asana, pranayama, mantra, mudra, bandha, Vedic chanting, and Indian classical music
  • Discuss the different aspects of hatha, bhakti, jnana, and karma yoga
  • Discover how to apply the heart of your practice to all relationships.

Rather than learn a subject, participants learn tools of empowerment to fully embrace themselves and feel completely at peace in their own form. This course is grounded in the idea of “advanced practice for perfect beginners,” meaning it is the breath and quality of attention that makes yoga “advanced,” not the physicality of the pose—advanced practice is accessible to all.

Return home relishing a deep intimacy with life itself on a daily basis. Enjoy a personalized and powerful home practice that is unique to you—aligning with the force of life that you already are, instead of trying to get somewhere else. Because ultimately, yoga must be adapted to you, not you to yoga.
