During this powerful weekend retreat, Rolf Gates, one of the West’s leading voices on contemporary yoga, shows you how to have it all. Together, you will explore the relationship between mindfulness and compassion in a powerful vinyasa yoga intensive.
Through this dynamic weekend of vinyasa yoga, meditation, pranayama, lecture, and discussion, you will:
- Build flexibility, strength, and balance through a focused and rigorous practice of yoga flow
- Cultivate a more mindful relationship to your body through intentional and focused movement

Yoga teacher and expert in yogic philosophy
Rolf Gates, the author of the acclaimed book on yogic philosophy Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga, is one of the leading voices of contemporary yoga in the West.
Rolf conducts vinyasa intensives and 200- and 500-hour teacher trainings throughout the United States and abroad. A former U.S. Airborne Ranger and a social worker trained in the field of addiction, Rolf has practiced meditation for the last 20 years. He is the cofounder of the Yoga + Recovery Conference at the Esalen Institute, has brought his course Yoga and Functional Stretching to the U.S. Department of Defense’s Tri-County Summit on Sustainability, and is currently working with the U.S. military on sustainable care for troops and their families.
Rolf works weekly one-on-one with clients in his Yoga Life Coaching program, and has been featured in numerous magazines, including Yoga Journal, Natural Health, and People. Rolf lives in Santa Cruz, California, with his wife, Miriam Gates, the founder and director of Empowered Kids Yoga, and their two children.
