Stress and its manifestations on anatomical, physiological, emotional, and cognitive levels are both causal and contributing factors in disease. Yoga and yoga therapy have tremendous potential to reduce and manage the symptoms of stress.
Join yoga therapy pioneer Gary Kraftsow, MA, E-RYT, for an exploration of principles and practices for stress management and understand how to manage stress at all levels—a fundamental life skill for achieving and maintaining optimal health and well-being.
You will participate in sessions that include:
- A general introduction to yoga therapy
- An overview of structural manifestation and physiology
- Study of stress and its manifestation on a physical, physiological, mental, and emotional level
- Tools and techniques for addressing chronic stress and its root cause.
Each session will consist of a presentation, practice, and time for dialogue and questions and answers. You will take home powerful tools to manage health challenges at any level and receive an electronic copy of the sequences taught.

Pioneer in the transmission of yoga for health and healing
Gary Kraftsow has been a pioneer in the transmission of yoga for health, healing, and personal transformation for more than 30 years. Founder of the American Viniyoga Institute, Gary has successfully developed protocol for two National Institutes of Health studies relating to the practice of yoga therapy for both physical and psychological ailments.
Gary’s journey began at Colgate University where he immersed himself in religious studies and then traveled to south India for private study on the teaching and practices of Saiva Siddhanta with well-known mystic and scholar V. A. Devasenapathi. Simultaneously, he studied the practical science of yoga with T. K. V. Desikachar, son of Krishnamacharya, the father of modern yoga.
Back in the United States, Gary learned from respected scholars and teachers, including Kenneth Morgan, M. Holmes Hartshorne, Dr. Raimundo Panikkar, and Kalu Rinpoche. With his master’s in psychology and religion from the University of California at Santa Barbara, he opened the Maui School of Yoga Therapy and become a renowned speaker and teacher of the Viniyoga methodology at conferences, schools, and institutes throughout the world.
He is the author of Yoga for Wellness and Yoga for Transformation, and the creator of several DVDs, including Viniyoga Therapy for the Low Back, Sacrum, and Hips and Viniyoga Therapy for Anxiety.View Bio Page
