Program Description

Ignite your inner light and move joyfully into the new year with experts in movement and meditation, Pilin Anice, RYT 500, HHC, and Romona Mukherjee, MEd, LPCC, LMHC. In this healing, celebratory workshop, you will connect to the wisdom that moves through your body and experience the magnificence of your highest self.

Join these two inspiring teachers for a weekend blending African dance traditions, Tantra philosophy, meditation, and self-reflection. Explore movements of the African diaspora, live drumming, storytelling, and meditation to release any stagnant energy from the past year.

With safe space and restorative live music, you will:

    Pilin Anice, RYT 500, HHC

    Movement & Wellness Leader

    Pilin Anice is a yoga, dance, and meditation instructor, wellness expert, and model. Passionate about helping others connect to their highest self, she guides students in the sacred movements of yoga and dance. She is a Kripalu Institute-trained instructor who has studied with masters of West African dance, Dunham Technique, and the African diasporic dances of Haiti, Cuba, and Brazil for nearly twenty years.

    Known for infusing joy and connection in her classes, she has taught around the world, including at the Omega Institute, Yogafest Dubai, and SOULFest. She is a certified Afro Flow Yoga instructor, which she teaches at the Ailey Extension in New York City.

    As a professional performer, Pilin has performed off Broadway, on national tours, and in regional productions. A longtime vegan and wellness coach, she is a go-to expert on plant-based wellness through pregnancy and beyond.

    Pilin has been featured on Good Morning America, the Today show, BET/CentricTV, and in the New York Times, Yoga Journal, and SELF. She is an alumna of Howard University and studied at the prestigious Ailey School. She lives in the New York City area with her husband and two children.

    Romona Mukherjee, MEd, LPCC, LMHC

    Mindfulness-based psychotherapist and meditation guide

    Romona Mukherjee is a teacher, guide, and mindfulness-based psychotherapist. Her private practice is called Therapy to Evolve.

    After receiving her graduate degree at Columbia University, she poured her interest into the deeper study of wisdom practices rooted in her own Indian cultural lineage. She weaves together Eastern practices with Western theoretical foundations to create a space in which insight and healing emerge organically and spontaneously.

    Romona’s lineages of mystical and philosophical studies are rooted in Shakta Tantra, Chaya Yoga, and the Balasaraswati lineage of Bharata Natyam (Sacred Temple Dance). She is a licensed clinician and divides her time teaching and practicing between New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area.

    Prerequisites

    None required.

    Experience Level

    Open to all levels. No dance experience is required, though people with injuries or challenges with movement ability may not be able to participate as easily.

    This program is appropriate for people interested in dance movement from the African diaspora and spiritual philosophies of Tantra.

    Things to Bring

    Bring a journal, a scarf, wrap, or sarong to wrap around your waist, and comfortable clothes to move in.

    Program Format

    Mornings will include vigorous and revitalizing movement and embodiment led by Pilin with live drums. There will be a short break and then group circle for reflections and sharing.

    Afternoons will contain interactive movement and connection exercises in partner and small groups, then gentle, restorative movement with drums. Closing will be a moving or seated meditation.
