You’ve heard it before: the one constant in our lives is change. How we navigate it has a direct impact on the degree of well-being, purpose, and satisfaction we experience in our day-to-day.

In this illuminating workshop, mindful leadership expert Phillip Moffitt and change strategist Jennifer Ward share principles about the nature of change in human lives. With a focus on the specific challenges and opportunities that arise in our 40s and 50s, this weekend of discussion, dynamic inquiry, specialized self-assessments, and time-tested mindfulness practices will help you:

  • Gain clarity about your current situation and discover which areas of your life need attention
  • See your own strengths and challenges in dealing with change and begin to strategize next steps
  • Recognize habits of mind that undermine you and learn practices to disengage from their influence
  • Identify your values and intentions so you have a basis for making wise decisions.

    Phillip Moffitt

    Mindful and authentic living and leadership expert

    Phillip Moffitt occupies a unique position in the world of mindful living and leadership. With the astute business acumen honed during his years as a media entrepreneur, combined with the wisdom cultivated during 30 years as a vipassana meditation practitioner and teacher, Phillip brings unparalleled insights and strategic vision to those seeking to lead authentic, purposeful lives.

    Phillip was editor in chief and CEO of Esquire magazine and led the successful turnaround of the magazine in the 1980s. After he left his publishing enterprise, he devoted himself to studying and practicing Theravada Buddhism and is now a nationally known teacher of mindfulness meditation, serving as co-guiding teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

    He is also the president and founder of Life Balance Institute, where he trains individuals and groups in the principles of values-based leadership and living, as well as how to skillfully make major life transitions. He has worked with individuals and groups from both the profit and nonprofit sectors including Google, Pixar, Ford Foundation, and Esalen Institute. He has written for numerous magazines, including Yoga Journal, Shambhala Sun, and Body + Soul. His books include Dancing with Life and Emotional Chaos to Clarity.

    Jennifer Ward

    Change and transition strategist, meditation practitioner

    Jennifer Ward is a change and transition strategist at Life Balance Institute in the San Francisco Bay Area. She works with individuals and groups focusing on how to skillfully navigate major life changes and maintain a sense of well-being through times of challenge.

    A longtime meditation practitioner, Jennifer has been training with Phillip Moffitt since 2010. In addition to teaching mindfulness practices for daily life, she concentrates on helping people to develop new relationships with their inner wounds and move beyond self-limiting patterns into fuller and more authentic expressions of who they are.

    Prior to joining Life Balance Institute, Jennifer was a book publishing executive in San Francisco and New York.
