Program Description

We all long for love. We long to be intimately connected to ourselves and others. For some, a partnership or marriage is the natural outcome of this longing. Others find alternative styles of intimacy more fulfilling. For most of us, love and sexuality can be complex and confusing.

We live in a dynamic time of transition: from post-patriarchy relationships, gender equality, and new definitions of femininity and masculinity to new styles of parenting and modern sexual dynamics.

Radiant intimacy is an emerging field of exploration bringing awareness to the topics of relationships, sexuality, and love. It draws on psychology, trauma theory, modern evolutionary biology, and  scientific sex  research.

Join 1440 Multiversity and internationally renowned neuroscientist Helen Fisher along with the founders of the Science and Nonduality series—Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo—as they bring together leading scientists, authors, artists, and teachers, for an experiential weekend of workshops. During this special retreat designed to expand your understanding of intimacy and what neuroscience can teach us about love, we will give you tools to navigate the complexities of modern-day relating and expand your experience of intimacy.

Through carefully crafted exercises, keynote lectures, targeted workshops, potent meditations, and performances, you will engage the concept of radiant intimacy, and how to express and integrate it within a spiritual path. You will also explore:

  • Attachment styles and their effects on relationships
  • Shadow elements within a relationship, and how early developmental trauma can impact our capacity for relating
  • How sexuality and sexual energy—an essential life force—can open us to the experience of our true nature and the unity consciousness
  • The evolution and future of human sexuality, love, and relationships.

You’ll return home with tools you can use in your daily life to create and sustain deeply fulfilling relationships with life, yourself, and others.

    Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo

Filmmakers and founders of Science and Nonduality (SAND)

Zaya Benazzo is a filmmaker from Bulgaria who has degrees in engineering, environmental science, and film. For many years, she worked as an environmental activist in Holland and Bulgaria, and she later produced and directed several award-winning documentaries in Europe and the United States.

Maurizio Benazzo grew up in Italy, and in 1984 he came to the United States on a 98-year-old sailing boat. He started working as an actor, model, and filmmaker, but his thirst for knowledge was only satisfied in 2001 upon encountering I Am That, the seminal work by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, while he was in India shooting the award-winning documentary Short Cut to Nirvana.

Zaya’s lifelong passion for science and mysticism merged when she met Maurizio in 2007, and their first project together was filming the documentary Rays of the Absolute on the life and teachings of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. This project sparked their next level of creation and collaboration: Science and Nonduality (SAND)—a global community inspired by the timeless wisdom traditions, informed by modern science, and grounded in direct experience.

After more than 10 years of intense event organization, community growing, parenting, and managing a household, it became apparent to both Zaya and Maurizio that the test of real practice, spiritual teaching, and realization was their relationship—the crucible for awakening.

Zaya and Maurizio became passionate explorers of ways to upgrade the post-patriarchal model of relationship and love—by integrating science, modern psychology, and a new understanding of what it means to live life with a natural attunement to our sexual bodies.
