When it comes to the topics of personal finance and investing, if you are struggling with money stress, shame, confusion or overwhelm, you are not alone. This powerful workshop has helped hundreds of women create a surprisingly joyful relationship with a subject that for years brought them anguish.

Join financial literacy advocate Manisha Thakor, MBA, CFA, CFP, and learn to use mindfulness to explore key elements of creating optimum financial health. The intention behind the course is for every student to walk away with 1-3 specific, highly tactical financial action steps to improve their lives upon leaving the workshop.

Topics discussed will span the gamut from the basics of investing and dealing with competing demands on our cash flow to exploring our money histories and influences.

The workshop also kicks off with a fun, introspective exercise that enables Manisha to further customize the sessions to the specific needs of the students in attendance. Personal questions that have come from this exercise in the past have included dealing with credit card or student loan debt, how to have “awkward” money conversations with your spouse / family / friends, to how to get young adult children to stop shopping at the bank of mom and dad and how to survive the “sandwich stage” where you are taking care of both children and elderly parents. Bottom line, Manisha’s intention is for every participant to leave this session feeling their unique needs have been addressed.

This class also provides a unique mix of a highly practical yet also soulful and heartfelt approach to creating financial calm, confidence and clarity. Come learn the power that comes from aligning your financial habits and your core values. Manisha likes to call this state “MoneyZen” and strives to have every student on the path towards it by the end of the weekend.

  • Discuss the gamut of basic investing, budgeting, saving, and debt
  • Learn how to communicate about money with partners, family, and friends
  • Plan for child and elder care—especially if they happen simultaneously
  • Outline joy-based spending and how to implement it in daily life choices
  • Practice financial fluency and identify specific  areas that  need TLC
  • Leave with a personal money manifesto and a holistic definition of healthy spending.

    Manisha Thakor, MBA, CFA, CFP®

    Financial literacy advocate and financial planner for women

    A nationally renowned financial literacy advocate for women, Manisha Thakor is Vice President of Financial Education at the Seattle-based wealth management firm, Brighton Jones. Her mission is to help clients “Live a Richer Life”—literally and figuratively.

    Manisha is the coauthor of two critically acclaimed personal finance books, On My Own Two Feet: A Modern Girl’s Guide to Personal Finance and Get Financially Naked: How to Talk Money with Your Honey. Manisha is a member of the Wall Street Journal’s Wealth Experts Panel, sits on faculty at the Omega Institute, and serves on the board of the National Endowment for Financial Education.

    Manisha’s financial advice has been featured in a wide range of national media outlets, including CNN, PBS, NPR, the Today show, Rachel Ray, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, Real SimpleWoman’s Day, Glamour, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Women’s Health.

    Manisha earned her master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School in 1997 and her bachelor of arts from Wellesley College in 1992. She is also a CFA charterholder and CFP® practitioner. Manisha lives in Portland, Oregon, where she revels in the Third Wave coffee scene and the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
