Program Description

Are you ready to create emotional, mental, and spiritual change? Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy provides a groundbreaking model for transformation, taking an effective and compassionate approach to the parts of you that are stuck in reactive patterns and holding you back from living your best life.

Developed by Richard Schwartz, PhD, IFS draws on systems thinking with the view that the mind is made up of relatively discrete subpersonalities, each with its own viewpoint and qualities. Importantly, IFS also sees people as being whole underneath this collection of parts, the true Self.

Dr. Schwartz has been using IFS in retreat settings for more than 30 years. In this 5-day workshop immersion, you will participate in a variety of inner-focused experiential exercises in both large and small groups.

You will learn:

  • How to use IFS for identifying and engaging with the various parts of yourself
  • How and why these parts swing into action in ways that prevent you from experiencing the happiness and fulfillment you seek
  • To lead your life from the Self, an inner essence of calm, clarity, curiosity, courage, and connectedness.

    Richard Schwartz, PhD

    Founder of Center for Self Leadership

    Richard Schwartz is founding developer of Internal Family Systems (IFS)SM, a therapeutic model that synthesizes systems thinking and the multiplicity of the mind, suggesting alternative ways of understanding psychic functioning and healing.

    In 2000, he founded the Center for Self Leadership in Oak Park, Illinois, which offers three levels of training and workshops in IFS for professionals and the general public.

    Dr. Schwartz coauthored, with Michael Nichols, Family Therapy: Concepts and Methods, the most widely used family therapy text in the United States, and was associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago Institute for Juvenile Research and later at the Family Institute at Northwestern University.

    A featured speaker for national professional organizations, Dr. Schwartz serves on editorial boards of four professional journals and has published five books, including You Are The One You’ve Been Waiting For, as well as more than 50 articles about IFS.

    • If you cancel 14 or more days prior to your arrival date, payments made will be refunded in full (less a $50 processing fee).
    • If you cancel between 13 days and 1 day prior to your arrival date, a nonrefundable credit (less a $50 processing fee) will be held for one year from the date of issue.
    • No credit or refund is available if you cancel on your arrival day, if you do not show up, or if you leave a program or event early.
