This weekend brings together two experts on Eastern medicine for a workshop that translates Ayurvedic theory and practices into an effective approach to daily and seasonal self-care.
You will learn the Ayurvedic perspective on the role of our senses, known in Sanskrit as indriyas, and how they relate to the elements, the seasons, and our daily routines, or dinacharya, to positively impact our health and outlook.
Through presentations, group discussion, stories, and experiential practice, you will learn:
- How refining the senses enhances overall health
- Practical techniques for well-being as part of a daily routine
- How to become aware of the senses and be able to discern what they need day-to-day to support their health
- Specific protocols to implement immediately for enhanced vitality, improved sleep, and a calm mind.
All are welcome. Beginners will open their eyes, mind, and heart to the benefits of learning this system of health that has been in practice for more than 5,000 years. Seasoned practitioners of yoga and Ayurveda will deepen their knowledge and experience during this unique opportunity to learn from having two world-renowned doctors together in the same workshop.
Everyone will leave with a heightened awareness of the importance of sensory health and the tools to increase it.
Claudia Welch, DOM
Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Ayurvedic educator
Claudia Welch is a doctor of Oriental Medicine, a highly respected Ayurvedic practitioner and educator, and author of several books, including Balance Your Hormones, Balance Your Life: Achieving Optimal Health and Wellness through Ayurveda; Chinese Medicine, and Western Science; and How the Art of Medicine Makes the Science More Effective: Becoming the Medicine We Practice.
Dr. Welch lectures internationally on Oriental and Ayurvedic medicines, exploring how ideas in Eastern medicine apply to women’s health and the realities of life modern life, in general. She coteaches with Ayurveda specialist Dr. Robert Svoboda, and offers online courses, private tutoring, and group Q&A sessions.
Dr. Welch has served on the teaching faculty of the Ayurvedic Institute, Kripalu School of Ayurveda, Southwest Acupuncture College, and Acupractice Seminars, and she developed a mentorship program to help current practitioners deepen their knowledge and to support students as they navigate the transition to becoming an established practitioner.View Bio PageDr. Robert E. Expert in Ayurveda, Jyotish, and Tantra
Dr. Robert E. Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training, he was tutored in Ayurveda, yoga, Jyotish, Tantra, and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda.
He is author of 12 books, including Prakriti: Your Ayurvedic Constitution.
Dr. Svoboda lived in India from 1973-80 and 1982-86, receiving his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from the University of Poona in 1980. In his final year of study at the Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalay, he won all but one of the university’s awards for academic excellence in Ayurveda. He later served as adjunct faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington.
