Sharon Salzberg, one of America’s most well-known Buddhist meditation teachers and authors, has been leading meditation retreats throughout the world for more than three decades. She began teaching vipassana (insight) meditation when she returned from intensive studies in India in the early 1970s.
With Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield, Sharon cofounded the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts, which has since become one of the most prominent and active meditation centers in the West. She and Joseph Goldstein expanded their vision by cofounding the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies (BCBS), and the Forest Refuge, a long-term retreat center.
A New York Times best-selling author, Sharon focuses her teachings on both Vipassana and the deep and profound practice of metta (lovingkindness) meditation.
