This workshop will equip mental health professionals with the knowledge, techniques, and practical applications that will enable them to apply research-based concepts and techniques related to positive psychology, and mindfulness with their clients and patients.
During this highly experiential, skill-building weekend, participants will:
- Apply selected positive psychology interventions and mindfulness practices with clients or patients and themselves to increase wellbeing, manage stress, and improve relationships
- Define happiness and describe the research findings on the causes and correlations of happiness and life satisfaction
- Summarize the research findings on the benefits of positive emotions and mindfulness
- Define empathy and compassion and apply an intervention for increasing empathy compassion in clients
- Describe the benefit of distressing emotions and utilize interventions for emotion regulation
- Create individual action plans to cultivate wellbeing habits.
Participants will explore basic mindfulness and positive psychology research-based practices such as mindful meditation, mindful walking, response flexibility, gratitude, acts of kindness, expression of appreciation, empathy, compassion, and values clarification.
The emphasis will be on application and action planning with the aim of increasing wellbeing and managing stress in themselves and their clients and patients. Handouts, research summaries, application guides, tracking logs, and an instructional handbook will be provided to all participants. Dyads, small group,
questions and answers, and didactic lecture will be utilized.

Laura Delizonna is a positive psychologist who specializes in practical applications of science to increase thriving and success. She is a Stanford University instructor, a master senior teacher for Google’s Search Inside Yourself training, an executive coach, and a professional speaker in leading companies throughout the world.
Laura delivers science-based solutions derived from insights in neuroscience, positive psychology, and mindfulness. Her courses have been the most popular at Stanford’s Continuing Studies, where she has been teaching for 11 years. Participants call her trainings “life changing experiences.”
She works with leaders and top companies to strengthen positive culture by enhancing mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and resilience. Cancellations and Refunds
The following policies apply to all standard programs. Some programs may have special cancellation policies; see individual workshop descriptions.
If You Cancel
- If you cancel 30 or more days prior to your arrival date, your 50% deposit will be refunded.
- If you cancel between 21 days and 29 days prior to your arrival date, your 50% deposit will be held on account for one year from the date of issue for a future visit.
- No credit or refund is available if you cancel fewer than 21 days prior to your arrival day, if you do not show up, or if you leave a program or event early.
- No credit or refund will be available if you attend a program and are dissatisfied with its presentation or content.
If 1440 Multiversity Cancels
On rare occasions, due to unforeseen circumstances, 1440 Multiversity may need to cancel a program. We will notify registrants of cancellation a minimum of 7 days in advance of the program start date and will offer a full refund for housing and tuition or the option to rebook in an available course or our R&R program offered at the same time period of the original reservation. If you are purchasing airfare to visit 1440, we recommend investigating travel insurance with appropriate coverage for ultimate flexibility, since 1440 will not reimburse for travel expenses.
Participants of approved continuing education courses may register complaints with the approval entity with an option to appeal to their licensing Board if displeased with the results of the process.
