Program Description

Our brains are hardwired for worry. While our ancient ancestors had a legitimate use for the fight-or-flight instinct, what was once a matter of survival has now become the stuff of sleepless nights and anxious days for many of us.

Worry activates our stress response, which sets off a cascade of chemical reactions that become harmful when prolonged. By learning how to redirect that same brain power toward positive feeling states, we can reduce our body’s reaction to stress and boost our overall well-being.

Guided by integrative physician Martin Rossman, MD, you will receive a comprehensive review of the science and applications of mind-body healing. Through lecture and experiential exercises you will learn:

  • Identify the adaptive functions of worry
  • Define the areas of the brain involved in worry, anxiety and stress
  • Differentiate between useful, problem-solving worry and futile, problem-causing worry
  • Practice three techniques for reducing worry while increasing self-efficacy
  • Create a personal plan for reducing worry and stress in daily life

For anyone looking to unhook from the habit of worry, this program provides tools to powerfully relax your body, leading to a more positive outlook on life and greater health and resilience.
