Program Description

Mandalas are sacred artistic expressions that speak to the wholeness of the universe. In making our own mandalas, we invite our inner wholeness forward. It is a creative process that can help you break patterns in your life that no longer serve you. It can also deepen and support your sacred practices, like yoga, meditation, and contemplation.

No experience is required to participate in this workshop—beginners, seasoned artists, and those yearning to refresh their creativity are all welcome.

You will create your own personalized mandala guided by artist Jennifer Mazzucco, beginning with the less tangible parts of the creative process, including guided meditation, personal reflection, and exercises for slowing down and tapping into the creative flow.

Then you will:

  • Learn the technical approaches to drawing a mandala, including the design principles of symmetry, balance, space, and composition
  • Explore the different coloring techniques using watercolors, oil pastels, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, and brush markers
  • Reflect on your experience through group discussion and journaling
  • Find out how the mandala has been used in different cultures throughout history.

As you experience creating a mandala from inception to completion, you will remember your innate creativity and discover practices to overcome struggles in the creative process. You will also build the confidence you need to start and finish a piece of art and learn how to have a daily art-making practice at home.
