Can comedy save you and the world? Quite possibly! You’ll be amazed that something so fun can be so good for you. When the going gets tough, sometimes the best medicine is not taking things too seriously.
This incredibly fun workshop will soothe your spirit in these trying times and give you a boost of much needed lightheartedness. Guided by comedy improv pro Jacqueline Kabat, you will explore the basic principles of improvisational comedy and tap into your personal potential.
Working together as a group in order to minimize any stage fright, you will learn:
- How to use comedy as a vehicle for personal transformation, personal growth, and a lighter way of looking at the world
- The basic tenets and techniques of improv
- To get comfortable performing in front of others, getting on a stage, and dealing with the fear of failure that stands in the way of your achieving your goals.
By applying the fundamental lesson of improv—being present and open to whatever happens—you will increase your confidence, improve your relationship skills, and learn to creatively deal with a world of uncertainty and change.
Comedian and improv expert
Jacqueline Kabat has been involved in all aspects of stand-up comedy, comedy improvisation, and sketch writing since 1997.
She has studied with former Saturday Night Live funny woman Amy Poehler and Sex in the City‘s Mario Cantone. Jacqueline has performed at popular New York clubs like Gotham Comedy Club and Caroline’s on Broadway, and with the improv troupe Rash Behaviour, whose sketches received honorable mentions at the New York Independent Film Festival. Jacqueline has also written for Time Out New York.
She currently teaches comedy improv at Fortune 500 corporations, medical centers, retreat centers, and high-end destination spas around the country and in Mexico. She has taught to a number of companies, including Bank of America, Procter & Gamble, Macy’s, Intuit, Southwest Airlines, eBay, and McGraw Hill. Jacqueline has also taught at the Deepak Chopra Center, Esalen Institute, Mount Madonna Center, and Omega Institute.
Jacqueline’s passion is building and being part of creative, compassionate, and conscious communities. Her philosophy is: creativity + nature + a supportive authentic community = magic.
