Program Description

Take time to renew your relationship and reconnect with the love that brought you together.

Your relationship can be a source of great comfort and joy—and also a cause of stress and pain. Many of us are doing the best that we can to be close to each other, even in the midst of conflict and disconnection. Unfortunately, the habitual strategies that we use may cause more distance, conflict, and distress.

This weekend, you and your partner will learn and practice new ways to strengthen the positive, life-affirming aspects of being in relationship with each other. Led by Michelle Gannon, PhD, and Sam Jinich, PhD, licensed psychologists for more than 20 years and sought-after experts in Emotionally Focused Therapy, you learn to:

  • Define the three “Demon Dialogues”: Find the Bad Guy, Freeze & Flee and Protest Polka
  • Identify “Raw Spots” and their underlying feelings beyond immediate, impulsive reactions
  • Integrate understanding of negative cycles and Raw Spots, and engage in the steps necessary to revisit a “Rocky Moment”
  • Discuss the importance of attachment repair and forgiveness in healthy relationships and describe the six-step model of forgiveness
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and engage in a Hold Me Tight conversation with their partner including the expression of vulnerable emotions and attachment-related needs

Michelle and Sam—through a variety of tools, including presentations, private exercises, prompts for conversations with your partner, and video demonstrations—will help you rediscover the pleasure of being a couple and enjoy a more satisfying relationship.

Take time for a weekend together that will support you as a couple for many years to come.
