We cannot live without nature. When we slow down to nurture our connection with it, magic happens. Stress melts away. We cultivate a sense of presence and renew our relationship with other beings.
The deep interdependence between humanity and nature not only promotes healing, it also awakens creativity, inspires wonder, and kindles realizations.
In this experiential immersion, filmmaker Sylvie Rokab will guide you on “forest bathing” walks in the beautiful landscape of 1440’s campus. Through forest bathing, Sylvie will invite you to:
- Close your eyes to “sense” fragrances and sounds
- Discover nature’s artistry
- Befriend beings on the land
- Join a tea ceremony with harvested leaves in the spirit of sharing and gratitude.
Expand and illuminate your essential communion with nature beyond what you have ever felt before. In a completely unique and supportive atmosphere, steep yourself in the peace of being to dissolve stress, lift confusion, open your heart, and allow emotions to surface and revelations to arise.
Filmmaker and cinematographer
Sylvie Rokab is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning filmmaker with more than two decades of experience as a writer, director, cinematographer, and editor. She has worked on films screened in theaters, universities, and community screenings, as well as on television series for outlets such as HBO, PBS, Travel Channel, and Discovery.
Born with the Atlantic Forest as her backyard, Sylvie was raised in Rio de Janeiro by Egyptian-born French and Italian parents who encouraged and supported her complete fascination with nature. Heartbroken by its rapid destruction, as a young adult she made it her mission to inspire people to deepen their connection with the natural world. When she moved to the United States, Sylvie became a wildlife cinematographer and filmmaker.
As of today, her latest film Love Thy Nature (narrated by Liam Neeson) has earned 27 awards and had nearly 300 screenings in 16 countries. An engaging speaker, she has lectured at more than 60 venues, from film festivals to universities and conferences.
A world traveler fluent in four languages, Sylvie seeks to inspire a diverse audience to transform their relationship with nature. A compassionate and inspiring nature therapy guide in the Japanese tradition of “Shinrin-yoku,” she leads people in an embodied and sensorial exploration of wild places and beings to ignite a desire to protect our vital and spellbinding natural world.View Bio Page
