All life is movement. Everything living has, at its most elemental level, an elaborate constellation of waves, pulsations, and undercurrents. Through movement we are connected to life itself and every aspect of our biosphere—from the furthest stars in the universe to the molecules spinning under the skin.

Join Beth Pettengill Riley, MA, RSME, to experience Continuum practice, a system that has pioneered and revolutionized the role of somatics in health, education, physical fitness, creativity, and spirituality. Connect with the fluid presence found in movement through awareness meditation, yoga, and breath and sound explorations.

In this four-day program, you will explore:

  • Continuum as a movement inquiry through which you can directly experience your interconnectedness to the wholeness of life
  • Elegant practices for guided and self-guided movement to welcome the liberation of your entire being at every level
  • Movement meditation techniques to build the health and wellness skills of resilience, responsiveness, fluidity, and flexibility
  • An approachable and complementary practice to Rolfing, craniosacral therapy, Feldenkrais, Body-Mind Centering®, osteopathy, and other somatic healing modalities
  • Direct experience of the wisdom of your own body through fluid movement practices, breathing and sound exercises, and—most importantly—slowing down to feel the infinite possibilities in the present moment.

    Beth Pettengill Riley, MA, RSME

    Dance educator and Continuum instructor

    Beth Pettengill Riley is a seasoned somatic movement activist with over 40 years of experience facilitating workshops in Continuum, Ashtanga Yoga, and mindfulness meditation around the globe. A founding member of Mount Madonna Center, she has been an invited presenter at Esalen Institute, Omega Institute, Mount Madonna Center, Open Center, and the Skyros Institute in Greece. She holds a master’s degree in dance education from Stanford University.

    Beth passionately engages embodiment as a spiritual path. She has offered a combination of yoga and Continuum for over 35 years in accessible and inspiring formats. With a degree in English, she interweaves poetry throughout her classes and workshops.

    Her latest project, focusing on teens, is called The Embodied Generation, and is reimagining and inspiring true physical education in the 21st century. For 10 years she has run a program for teens in the health and wellness curriculum at Kirby School, in Santa Cruz, combining mindfulness, yoga, and nonviolent communication to help alleviate the epidemic of student stress and teen anxiety.

    Beth started the first Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction yoga class on the west coast in conjunction with Bob Stahl at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. She is also president of the board of the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association based in New York and winner of the Good Times Best Yoga Teacher of Santa Cruz award.
