Program Description

We live in a time when meditation and mindfulness are becoming widespread in individual lives and institutions, teaching us tools for tapping into our capacity for authentic presence, stronger relationships, fulfilling work, and increased resilience and well-being.

This immersion provides a special opportunity for those who are interested in or currently using mindfulness in professional settings to dive into practice and share space with one of the pioneers who brought these practices to the United States, Sharon Salzberg.

Sharon is one of America’s most well-known Buddhist meditation teachers and authors, and this week she is joined by Judson Brewer, MD, PhD, whose insight into the scientific background of these practices will inspire you with astounding evidence-based information highlighting the profound effects of mindfulness.

You will experience new levels of self-awareness, happiness, and connection as you learn:

  • The scientific underpinnings of mindfulness
  • Classical descriptions and meanings of mindfulness
  • A range of practices
  • The relationship between methods of mindfulness, loving-kindness, and compassion
  • Practical ways to share this work as educators, clinicians, researchers, and those in the helping professions.

Experience the sweetness and ease of daily formal meditation practice (both insight and loving-kindness), meetings with the teachers, talks, guidance, and extended periods of silence. Gain confidence in your capacity to share mindfulness in your own workplace or community. Return home feeling rejuvenated, re-inspired, and recommitted to setting time aside each day for silence.

    Sharon Salzberg

    Vipassana meditation teacher and author

Sharon Salzberg, one of America’s most well-known Buddhist meditation teachers and authors, has been leading meditation retreats throughout the world for more than three decades. She began teaching Vipassana (insight) meditation when she returned from intensive studies in India in the early 1970s.

With Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield, Sharon cofounded the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts, which has since become one of the most prominent and active meditation centers in the West. She and Joseph Goldstein expanded their vision by cofounding the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies (BCBS), and the Forest Refuge, a long-term retreat center.

A New York Times best-selling author, Sharon focuses her teachings on both Vipassana and the deep and profound practice of metta (lovingkindness) meditation. Her numerous books include Lovingkindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness; Faith: Trusting Your Own Deepest Experience; A Heart as Wide as the World; and the bestseller Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation, A 28-Day Program. Her newest book is Real Love: The Art of Mindful Connection. Sharon’s writing has also been published in The Sun magazine, on Huffington Post, and been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine.
