Program Description

Being in relationship as a partner, a parent, a child, a colleague, a teacher, or a student provides us with some of the most fundamental challenges of being human and seeking a life of fulfillment. We often suffer in our relationships, and the real reasons for that often go unnoticed or unrealized.

We sometimes believe that any unhappiness we experience is actually rooted in these primary relationships. Is that true? What should we expect from relationship, really? What should we ask of ourselves and what should we expect from others when in relationship?

In this 3-day workshop, Gangaji will take us through a rigorous investigation into who we are in relationship. You can choose your focus: partnership, parents, or any key relationship in your life, including the relationship you have with yourself.

The relationship can be on-going, or it may be one from your past. Gangaji will guide you to identify your hopes and what exactly you are afraid to reveal in relationship. She will also guide us in the gift of seeing through someone else’s eyes. At the end of the retreat, she will give us five questions to take us deeper.

Spiritual teacher, author, founder of Gangaji Foundation

Gangaji offers ordinary people leading ordinary lives the invitation to recognize the absolute freedom and peace that is the truth of one’s being. As a teacher and author, she travels the world speaking to people and sharing her direct experience of the essential message she received from her teacher, Papaji.

Born in Texas in 1942, Gangaji grew up in Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Mississippi in 1964, she married and had a daughter. In 1972, she moved to San Francisco where she began exploring deeper levels of her being. She took Bodhisattva vows, practiced Zen and Vipassana meditation, helped run a Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center, and had a career as an acupuncturist. Despite her successes, Gangaji continued to experience a deep and persistent longing for fulfillment. She pursued many paths to change her life including relationship, motherhood, political activism, career, and spiritual practice, but even the greatest of her successes ultimately came up short. In the wake of her disillusionment, she made a final prayer for true help.

In 1990, the answer to her prayer came unexpectedly, taking her to India. There, on the banks of the river Ganga, she met Sri H.W.L. Poonja (Papaji), who opened the floodgates of self-recognition. In this meeting, Gangaji’s personal story of suffering ended and the promise of a true life began. Today, Gangaji travels the world speaking to people from all walks of life. She shares her direct experience of the essential message she received and offers it to all who want to discover a true and lasting fulfillment. Through her life and words, she powerfully articulates how it is really possible to discover the truth of who you are and be true to that discovery.
