Program Description

Spend your New Year connecting with your partner, a friend, or a family member and learn how to enliven and heal your body through partner massage, dance, and gentle movement.

Guided by movement specialists Alco Chan, PT, and Moana Diamond, you will immerse yourself in Alco’s Body Optimalization method—an eclectic combination of Eastern and Western principles of healing through bodywork aimed at sculpting the body, correcting muscle imbalances, restoring function, and promoting graceful freedom of movement.

You will learn a full-body massage sequence based on postural analysis, biomechanics, and natural law. Through lectures, hands-on demonstration, and practical experience, you will study:

  • Basic anatomy and body mechanics—essential foundations for understanding bodywork
  • Massage techniques for scalp, face, and neck; torso, front, and back; and arms, legs, hands, and feet
  • Proper draping and other techniques to keep you feeling safe and comfortable while receiving massage
  • Fun, playful sessions of partner movement and stretching, and basic steps of salsa and swing to get you moving and connected to your partner.

At the end of the workshop, you will perform a one-hour supervised massage on your partner, followed by a closing circle. You will take home dance and stretching exercises, a complete massage routine, and the confidence you need to share the benefits of relaxation and body movement with your loved ones.

He founded the Alco Physical Therapy clinic in 2001 and was recognized by the AMA as a low back and hip specialist in 2003. In 2005, he founded Tension Tamers, a company specializing in the development and implementation of on-site wellness and injury prevention programs.
