Rick Hanson, PhD
Psychologist and expert in meditation and neuroplasticity
Rick Hanson is a psychologist, senior fellow at the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley, and a New York Times best-selling author. A founder of the Wellspring Institute for Neuroscience and Contemplative Wisdom, he has been an invited speaker at NASA, University of Oxford, Stanford University, and Harvard University, and has taught in meditation centers worldwide. A student of meditation since 1974, Rick takes special interest in the historically unprecedented meeting of modern neuroscience and ancient contemplative practices.
Dr. Hanson has been a trustee of Saybrook University, served on the board of Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and was president of the board of FamilyWorks, a community agency. His work has been featured on NPR, CBS, and the BBC. His Just One Thing e-newsletter has over 120,000 subscribers, and he leads a weekly meditation gathering in San Rafael, California. He also offers the online Foundations of Well-Being program in positive neuroplasticity.
