Program Description

Mindfulness has become a buzzword—an internationally popularized tool for self-improvement. But without a specific focus or aim, this practice can be misleading. How do you bypass the hype to cultivate an enduring and purposeful practice?

In this 5-day workshop, experienced Buddhist teachers Dave Smith and George Haas show you how best to utilize mindfulness for the development of rich social and emotional intelligence—a way of directing your practice to vastly improve your mood, work, and relationships.

Through powerful guided meditation practices, lectures, and discussion, you will learn:

  • The basics of Buddhist psychology and the fundamentals of mindfulness practice
  • The four-stage model of emotional intelligence
  • The seven universal emotions and their roles in mindfulness and your physiological responses
  • An introduction to Paul Ekman’s Emotional Episode Timeline, a tool for understanding your triggers and emotional responses
  • The full scope of attachment theory as applied to relational mindfulness.

Leave with practical tools for implementing mindfulness in all of your efforts and interactions. This workshop will show you how to foster purpose, belonging, and genuine happiness for a more meaningful life.

CEs are available for mental health professionals in California, Utah, Tennessee, and Washington.
