Program Description

Effective leadership isn’t about just checking off more tasks. It’s defined by how well we use our minds, access our inner wisdom, and interact with others. Our workplaces are churning out burned-out leaders, who report little bandwidth for big-picture thinking, innovation, and truly understanding others. The skills to work with our minds, our emotions, and other people are essential—and can be developed.

Born at Google and based on brain science, Search Inside Yourself (SIY) uses the practices of mindfulness to train emotional intelligence skills, leading to resilience, positive mind-sets, and inspired leadership. Backed by some of the world’s leading experts in neuroscience, this course has been called everything from cutting-edge to life changing.

Join executive coach and SIY facilitator Meg Levie, MA, as she guides you in experiences proven to foster greater self-awareness, self-mastery, and authentic connection with yourself and others. You will learn:

  • Skills for effective listening, increased empathy, and holding difficult conversations to promote thriving relationships at work and at home
  • Mindfulness and reflection practices that reduce stress and increase happiness, focus, mental clarity, and overall well-being

    Meg Levie, MA

    Executive coach and mindfulness expert

    After many years of residential and monastic practice at the San Francisco Zen Center, Meg Levie felt called to find ways to make awareness practices more accessible to the wider world. Since 2008, she has taught classes and retreats to integrate mindfulness into work and life at a number of Silicon Valley companies including Genentech, Twitter, and Google.

     As a professionally certified coach, Meg has worked with entrepreneurs, CEOs, and founders of nonprofits as well as executive level leaders from Zynga and Google. She loves working with leaders who have a strong desire to develop greater self-awareness and create workplaces that support positive human development. She graduated from Stanford University with honors and then completed a master’s degree in English literature at the University of Texas at Austin before leaving a doctoral program there to follow her heart’s calling of studying Zen.

    Peter Bonanno, MEd

    Mindfulness trainer for individuals, schools, and businesses

    Peter Bonanno, director of program development for the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, is a social entrepreneur, learning designer, and longtime practitioner of mindfulness and tai chi. Motivated by passions for learning, mindfulness, and innovation, he has founded and worked at multiple socially minded startups.

    Peter started practicing mindfulness as a teenager, curious about how the mind works and how to make the most of life. He found it helped him shift from being a pessimist and introvert to being more open, appreciative, and empathetic. He enjoys weaving together the many different paths of scientific explorations from psychology to physics to meditation, and helping others rediscover awe, creativity, and joy.

    He has taught and spoken about mindfulness at businesses, schools, nonprofits, and for TEDx, and has recorded five-minute guided meditations for improving relationships, letting go, overcoming insecurity, and reducing stress.
