Program Description

What makes work meaningful?
Why engage with challenge?

Join Heath Slawner and the lead teaching team of Simon Sinek—the visionary voice behind the concept of WHY—for an inaugural, groundbreaking workshop at 1440 Multiversity. Together they will shine light on what WHY—Sinek’s TED talk phenomenon—is all about.

In this life-changing weekend of activities, lecture, and discussion based on Simon’s extensive research with individuals and organizations around the world, you will:

  • Gain a foundational knowledge of The Golden Circle: what we do, how we do it, and why we do it
  • Work with peers to discover your individual WHY, while helping them discover theirs
  • Learn what makes a simple, inspiring WHY Statement and write your first draft
  • Explore ways to bring your true WHY to life.

When you are at your best and doing what matters most to you, the natural, inevitable result is greater fulfillment. This outcome is not only incredible for you. It also greatly contributes to the vision and long-term progress of your team, your community, your organization, and the broader world.

Learn your WHY, live your WHY, and up-level your sense of purpose and global contribution.

    Heath Slawner

Passionate speaker on leadership, influence, and trust

Heath Slawner, one of the lead teachers for Simon Sinek—the visionary voice behind the concept of WHY—believes that when we meaningfully connect with and inspire one another, we rise well beyond what we could do alone. Specializing in strategic communication and leadership, he is fascinated by human behavior and has built a career learning and sharing his insights with leading organizations around the world.

In his keynotes, workshops, and training sessions, Heath uses stories, studies, and basic biology to demonstrate that trust and purpose—based on a palpable concern for others—are instrumental in having a high-performing team. He holds a degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is the only professional in Canada certified to deliver and facilitate the Principles of Persuasion. This evidence-based program based on the work of renowned psychologist Dr. Robert Cialdini dramatically enhances one’s ability to drive and inspire change.

Heath works with clients across the world in industries including government, international affairs, consumer products, restaurants, hospitality, telecommunications, education, nonprofit, and the financial and banking sectors.

    Jeff Beruan

    Start With Why team member

Jeff is all about clarity. He strives to help others to see the world from another’s perspective so that together, we can discover a clear path forward.

Jeff has been able to utilize this strength on the Start With Why team in many ways.  He started out by soaking in Simon’s content and then helped those who reached out with questions for Simon and our team.

He now runs the operational side of our sales department by providing a clear and inspirational experience. He also receives immense joy from helping individuals discover and articulate their WHY.

A fun fact about Jeff: in addition to his work with the Start With Why team, he’s spent the last 15+ years living his WHY on the operatic stage. He, quite literally, puts himself in another person’s shoes to see the world from their view in the hopes of creating a clear character for the audience to experience and enjoy.
