This workshop is for men and women at all levels of experience who are interested in maintaining a strong asana practice as their bodies change while diving deeper into the spiritual aspects of yoga. It’s also for yoga teachers who wish to learn new approaches to help their students.
Practiced across the life span, yoga can continue to help create strength, maintain balance, and increase flexibility so the body and mind do not become increasingly limited as years pass. Renowned yoga teacher Desiree Rumbaugh has been working with physical therapists and evolving her teaching style to accommodate her students’—and her own—changing needs.
This week, you will learn:
- How to keep your back, neck, shoulders, hips, and knees safe, strong, and flexible
- Ways to balance effort and rest for strength-building and rejuvenation
- To design a home practice that supports, challenges, and nourishes you for years to come.
By the end of the week, you will notice what a positive difference a dedicated daily yoga practice can make in your experience of yourself and life. Desirée Rumbaugh, Author
Desirée Rumbaugh, author of Fearless After Fifty: How to Thrive With Grace, Grit and Yoga, is an internationally recognized yoga teacher with certifications and longtime studies in both Iyengar Yoga and Anusara Yoga. She delights in sharing what she has gleaned from her 30 years of study and practice, and brings her years of experience, experimentation, and creativity to her ever-evolving, out-of-the-box teaching style.
Blending playful humor with breathwork and meditation in an authentic inquiry into the nature of being, she leads balanced, comprehensive, transformational yoga experiences, accessible to all levels and all types of bodies. In order to refine her teaching even more, Desirée is currently studying Functional Manual Therapy (FMT), an integrated system that encourages optimum human performance by increasing total body mobility and function.
She is the founder of Wisdom Warriors, a training for teachers and dedicated yoga practitioners of all ages who wish to learn more about how to stay safe and strong in their asana practice beyond the age of 50. She is also the creator of the DVD series Yoga to the Rescue, is a regular contributor to Yoga Journal, and teaches workshops and retreats throughout the world.
