Sarana Miller
Yoga instructor
Sarana Miller has been teaching yoga in California, Mexico, and Alaska for almost 20 years. Her calming presence is known to guide students towards greater alignment, focus, and ease of movement. Her teaching is designed for a range of body types and ages, and her playfulness and joy infuse the precision and challenge of all of her classes.
Sarana draws on many yoga styles. Her teaching is based in the Iyengar tradition and influenced by many years of in-depth study with master teachers Rodney Yee, Thomas Fortel, Ana Forrest, Sarah Powers, and American kirtan master Jai Uttal. Sarana is on the faculty at the Esalen Institute and created the SaranaYoga program at Wilbur Hot Springs.
Sarana inspires acceptance, self-confidence, awareness, and trust through the careful attention and hands-on adjustments she gives her students. Always coming back to the breath, yoga with Sarana is a practice of deepening self-connection.
A lover of wild places, Sarana lives with her husband in Berkeley, California, and in Haines, Alaska, where she teaches retreats in the summer. In Alaska, when she’s not on the yoga mat, Sarana loves to hike, pick berries, hunt for mushrooms, and watch the tide change.
