Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of people with ADHD, including youth in grades K–12, military families, hospitalized children, and disaster survivors? Join two of the leading experts in the field, Richard P. Brown, MD, and Patricia Gerbarg, MD, to learn the most effective evidence-based approaches.

ADHD is not just a disorder of attention and hyperactivity; it also involves social interactions, bodily awareness, anxiety, reward systems, and numerous co-occurring learning disabilities.

Recent research is shedding light on the role of polymorphisms (genetic variants) that help explain some of the variability in medication responsiveness and nutritional sensitivities. Brain studies showing differences in activation of neural networks are being used to improve the effectiveness of neurofeedback. This informative, experiential, and didactic Breath, Body, Mind workshop includes a review of some of this important research.

You will learn:

  • Discuss the effects of breathing and movement practices on emotion regulation, social engagement, and bonding
  • Describe methods to integrate herbs, nutrients, mind-body practices, and mild brain stimulation techniques into treatments for ADHD.
  • Apply tools for further learning to gain competence in the use of herbs, nutrients and mind-body practices in addressing the needs of individuals with ADHD.

    Patricia Gerbarg, MD

    Medical Doctor, Coauthor of Non-Drug Treatments for ADHD

    Patricia Gerbarg is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at New York Medical College. She coauthored, with her husband, Dr. Richard Brown, Non-Drug Treatments for ADHD: New Options for Kids, Adults, and Clinicians, winner of Nautilus Books Health and Healing Gold Award 2013, Independent Publisher Psychology and Mental Health Gold Award 2012, and National Indie Book Gold Award in Psychiatry 2013.

    A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Gerbarg completed her psychiatry residency at Beth Israel Hospital and the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute, and practices integrative psychiatry, combining standard and complementary treatments. Her research focuses on mind-body practices for anxiety, depression, veterans, mass disasters survivors, and stress-related medical conditions.

    Dr. Gerbarg is currently working with members of the mental-health and education communities of Elmira, New York, to integrate breath-body-mind practices into programs for children and adults. She consults on numerous research projects, writes scientific articles, chapters, and award-winning books, and edits books on complementary and integrative treatments.

    Richard Brown, MD

    Medical Doctor, Coauthor of Non-Drug Treatments for ADHD

    Richard P. Brown is an associate clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University. He coauthored, with his wife, Dr. Patricia Gerbarg, Non-Drug Treatments for ADHD: New Options for Kids, Adults, and Clinicians, winner of Nautilus Books Health and Healing Gold Award 2013, Independent Publisher Psychology and Mental Health Gold Award 2012, and National Indie Book Gold Award in Psychiatry 2013.

    Dr. Brown gives over 100 lectures each year and has published more than 100 scientific articles, books, and chapters. A certified teacher of aikido, yoga, qigong, and Open Focus Meditation, he develops mind-body programs that help improve symptoms of stress, pain, anxiety, ADHD, depression, PTSD, and stress-related medical conditions.

    Dr. Brown completed his medical degree at Columbia University, psychiatry residency and fellowship in psychobiology and psychopharmacology at Cornell University Medical College. He specializes in integrative psychiatry, combining the best standard treatments with supplements and mind-body practices.

    If You Cancel

    • If you cancel 14 or more days prior to your arrival date, payments made will be refunded in full (less a $50 processing fee).
    • If you cancel between 13 days and 1 day prior to your arrival date, a nonrefundable credit (less a $50 processing fee) will be held for one year from the date of issue.
    • No credit or refund is available if you cancel on your arrival day, if you do not show up, or if you leave a program or event early.
    • No refund will be available if you attend a program and are dissatisfied with its presentation or content.

    If 1440 Multiversity Cancels

    On rare occasions, due to unforeseen circumstances, 1440 Multiversity may need to cancel a program. Should this circumstance arise, you will receive a full refund.
