What does it take to turn worry into wonder? Concern into confidence? Heaviness into openheartedness?
In this transformational weekend, Lisa Jakub, yogi and author, shares the tools she’s used to find peace and joy in the midst of life’s chaos. After retiring from an 18-year Hollywood acting career that appeared successful on the outside, Lisa faced what was true on the inside. She had social anxiety and a full-blown panic disorder that often made it hard to leave the house. Ultimately, Lisa cultivated powerful ways to manage her mental health and thrive.
In this workshop that includes lecture, mindful group discussions, journaling, and gentle, beginner-friendly asana practice, you will:
- Create a yoga practice to specifically support mental and emotional well-being
- Access your creativity in order to address trauma and heal from past experiences
- Explore and transform your Inner Critic, Samskara, and identifying stories
- Use neuroplasticity to access patterns and make changes in your thoughts and behaviors
- Create and/or deepen your daily meditation practice.
Learn how to use yogic philosophy and therapeutic writing to gain a deeper understanding of your purpose, connection, and authentic power. Leave with new ways to connect with yourself and show up in the world.
Writer, yoga teacher, and mental health advocate
Lisa Jakub is an author, Kripalu Center yoga teacher, and former actress who has more than 40 film and television credits to her name, including Mrs. Doubtfire, Independence Day, and George Lucas in Love. In search of a more authentic life, she retired from her 18-year acting career at the age of 22. She has since found happiness and purpose as a writer, teacher, and an advocate for mental health awareness.
Inspired by her journey through social anxiety, depression, and a panic disorder, Lisa leads writing and yoga workshops all over the country. She also teaches yoga classes for anxiety and post-traumatic stress. The author of the memoir, You Look Like That Girl: A Child Actor Stops Pretending and Finally Grows Up, Lisa has appeared on the Today show, HuffPost Live, MSNBC, CNN, BBC, and CBC. Her latest book, Not Just Me: Anxiety, Depression, and Learning to Embrace Your Weird, is a hopeful, entertaining, and enlightening look at the root causes of anxiety, the latest research on mood disorders, and ideas for how we can all live authentically with more peace, power, and purpose.View Bio Page
