Program Description

The one constant in our lives is change. Yet we often find ourselves ill-equipped to manage it skillfully. How well we navigate change has a direct impact on the degree of well-being, purpose, and satisfaction we experience on a day-to-day basis.

If you are considering a big change, are in one currently, or still feel the effects of a past change, this dynamic weekend offers you the personal understanding and tools to set a well-considered course for the next phase of your life.

Change naturally brings up concerns, fears, and questions that can lead to confusion, lack of motivation, or poor decisions. Join change strategists Jennifer Ward and David Onek for the skills and strategies to effectively respond to the challenges of change, such as:

  • Discover which areas of life need attention, gain insights about your strengths and challenges in dealing with change, and strategize next steps
  • Recognize habits of mind that undermine you and learn practices to disengage from their influence
  • Identify your values and intentions so you have a basis for making wise decisions
  • Learn essential life skills for meeting your changes and transitions with authenticity, confidence, and clarity.

During this workshop full of dynamic inquiry, learn principles about the nature of change in human lives and time-tested mindfulness practices that help you move through times of change with more balance. Throughout the workshop, you will complete a series of self-assessments that are designed to give you clarity about your current situation and a sense of next steps.

    Jennifer Ward

    Change and transition strategist, meditation practitioner

    Jennifer Ward is a change and transition strategist at Life Balance Institute in the San Francisco Bay Area. She works with individuals and groups focusing on how to skillfully navigate major life changes and maintain a sense of well-being through times of challenge.

    A longtime meditation practitioner, Jennifer has been training with Phillip Moffitt since 2010. In addition to teaching mindfulness practices for daily life, she concentrates on helping people to develop new relationships with their inner wounds and move beyond self-limiting patterns into fuller and more authentic expressions of who they are.

    Prior to joining Life Balance Institute, Jennifer was a book publishing executive in San Francisco and New York.

    David Onek

    Change and transition strategist

    David Onek is a change and transition strategist with deep, wide-ranging experience in the nonprofit, government, political, legal, start-up, and mindfulness worlds. He has held leadership positions at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, the Northern California Innocence Project, and UC Berkeley Law School, as well as the San Francisco Police Commission, the San Francisco Mayor’s Office, and the Obama and Clinton presidential campaigns. David currently serves as the justice practice director at Resource Development Associates and is also an active impact and angel investor. He is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Brown University.

    David is trained as a change and transition strategist by Phillip Moffitt, president and founder of the Institute for Change & Transition. As a change and transition strategist, David leads groups that help participants skillfully navigate change and transition in their lives, based on their values. In addition to addressing immediate challenges, participants develop tools for sustained well-being.
