Program Description

Ask yourself: Is sensitivity your superpower? Are you nurturing your best self? Have you taken time to prioritize you? Highly sensitive people (HSPs) are the 20 percent of the population with a finely tuned nervous system. We are profoundly impacted by environment, and immersive retreat and self-care are not optional—they are critical to our health.

Decompress, reflect, and heal from living in the 80 percent overstimulating world with renowned psychologist and author Elaine N. Aron, PhD, and master therapist Alane Freund, MS, MA, LMFT. Be guided to an optimal balance of arousal—an ideal state of engagement and calm unique to every person. Together, you will:

  • Discover the five tools to flourish, reframe childhood, and heal trauma
  • Practice tailored skills in self-care, spirituality, communication, and connection
  • Explore facets of parenting, sensitive masculinity, relationships, and career
  • Learn how to design daily life compatible with your sensitivities.

Integrating teaching, discussion, writing, meditation, silence, ecotherapy, and experiential exercises, this comprehensive workshop creates a unique rhythm. Prepare for self-exploration, practical learning, and restoration. Return home with practical tools for everyday life, knowing you have worked on your self-healing, and feeling recharged to embrace your life.

This is your time. Step out of your hectic life for a week just to take care of you. Slow down and open your heart and mind. Sink deeply into the peace, calm, and rest you deserve. Transform your life as a highly sensitive person and flourish in a way that recognizes, nurtures, and manifests your full power.

    Alane Freund, MS, MA, LMFT

Psychotherapist, horse whisperer, advocate for the highly sensitive

Alane Freund has been a therapist for over two and a half decades, working with families and youth to find solutions to their relational, social, and behavioral challenges. For 14 years she has been studying equine-assisted growth and learning. Her California therapy and team-building practice, Heart and Mind Equine, combines her passion for horses with her love of psychotherapy. Located in a sunny clearing in the forests of bucolic Woodacre, California, Alane describes Heart and Mind Equine as a place “where all ideas are welcome and no answers are wrong.”

Working closely with Dr. Elaine N. Aron, pioneer author and researcher in the study of highly sensitive people, Alane has developed and implemented programs for highly sensitive people, children, families, and the clinicians who serve them. A skilled facilitator and therapist and the parent of a highly sensitive teenage son, she teaches workshops, leads groups, and does ongoing work with her herd of equine colleagues—the highly sensitive horses she has rescued, rehabilitated, and, in many instances, gentled from the wild. With a focus on inclusion, Alane welcomes all types of family makeups, sizes, and structures into her practice including the full LGBTQ+ community.

Alane Freund, MS, MA, LMFT, holds License Number LMFT36077.
