Program Description

The science is clear: our body’s movement can change our inner state. Beyond just a strong and defined body, intelligent movement gives us a medium with which to create a more defined version of ourselves.

Join Tom Myers, author of Anatomy Trains, and Karin Gurtner, developer of Anatomy Trains in Motion®, for an immersive 5-day program exploring how movement can enhance our well-being at all levels. Learn to alter your psychophysiology by altering the qualities of your movement—generous, dynamic, and melting, or slow and controlled. By studying the “why” beneath the “how” of movement, you’ll gain a deeper sense of your physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual self—and how you “move” through the story of your life.

Through in-depth study and practice, you will:

  • Work with the properties of fascia and muscle for maximum benefit
  • Distinguish perception, proprioception, and interoception in body-sensing and conscious-movement training
  • Learn to BodyRead patterns and possibilities using the Anatomy Train body map
  • Develop movement strategies to strengthen available resources and transcend old habits.

This course is designed for movement professionals, but is open to nonprofessional movers who want to know more and sense differently.

    Karin Gurtner

Founder of Art of Motion Training in Movement®

Karin Gurtner is the founder and educational director of Art of Motion Training in Movement. She developed Art of Motion’s Contemporary Pilates curriculum, the comprehensive Slings Myofascial Training® education for movement professionals and therapists, as well as the Anatomy Trains in Motion® course. She has produced several educational DVDs and videos, written textbooks, and developed an e-learning concept for Slings Myofascial Training.

Karin believes that knowledge should be shared generously to foster independent thinking—and that complex movement concepts need to be delivered within a clearly defined and practical context to be embodied and “embrained” alike.

Aiming to maintain the essence of the Pilates method, Karin developed a Contemporary Pilates curriculum that values modern movement science and recognizes our changing needs, throughout life and as a society.

Anatomy Trains in Motion is Karin’s interpretation and practical application of Tom Myers’ work in the realms of body-minded movement. After reading Tom’s Anatomy Trainsin early 2000, Karin started working on what has become Slings Myofascial Training: an advanced education concept for structural integration through movement. Over eight years, Karin has structured and integrated varied experiences, observations, and thoughts into a comprehensive curriculum that is experience-proven, science-informed, and well-rounded, yet always in process.
