Program Description

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy has exploded in popularity. In recent years, EMDR therapists worldwide have become a go-to, first-line treatment that is truly life-changing for countless people.

EMDR enables people to heal from emotional trauma—transforming repetitive, unwanted, or intrusive experiences into neutral, everyday memories. As if someone turned the volume way down on the issue. It’s still audible, but no longer troubling.

Informed by cutting-edge neuroscience research, EMDR is a holistic approach to healing by integrating body, mind, and spirit. Join Laurel Parnell, PhD, the renowned EMDR pioneer and author of five books, to complete your skill set in using EMDR tools.

Refresh your technique and review EMDR protocols and procedures, consult on your difficult cases, watch demonstrations, and practice EMDR in small, supervised groups. Instruction will focus on using EMDR with complex cases, resource development and installation, target development, and interweaves.

Through lecture, hands-on, supervised practice; and demonstrations, you will:

  • Review standard and modified protocols and procedures for a wide range of diagnostic categories
  • Integrate EMDR into a clinical practice
  • Implement techniques for target development, resource development, and installation
  • Utilize interweaves in EMDR sessions when processing is blocked and apply methods for dissociation and abreactions
  • Understand methods for complex trauma, medical procedure traumas, somatic disorders, and grief and loss
  • Employ methods for recent or childhood traumas and critical incidents
  • Adapt protocols and procedures to clients’ psychological, emotional, cultural, and developmental needs.

This advanced workshop refreshes technique and focuses on addressing complex cases, ego strengthening and attachment repair techniques, and addressing processing difficulties in a compassionate, safe, and therapeutic relationship.
