Program Description

The pelvis is the cradle of life. Its balance is at the core of our bodily health and power, for both men and women. But because of its complicated associations with “down there,” it can be difficult for anyone, personally or professionally—from client to bodyworker, therapist, or trainer—to attend to the whole region. It’s time to give the pelvis the expert care and detailed approaches that it truly needs and deserves.

Join renowned integrative manual therapist Tom Myers and Kimberly Ann Johnson, founder of Magamama to address and heal a range of pelvic pain or trauma associated with sex, childbirth, surgery, or menopause.

At this enlightening workshop, you will:

  • Build core stabilization in both the muscular and fascial pelvic floor
  • Explore the balance of pelvic ligaments and menstruation
  • Learn pelvic types in childbirth and birth-event recovery exercises
  • Examine internal organ attachment and ease pelvic pain

    Tom Myers

    Manual therapy expert, creator of Anatomy Trains

    Tom Myers has been involved in and practicing integrative manual therapy for over 40 years in a variety of clinical and cultural settings. He is the author of Anatomy Trains, the coauthor of Fascial Release for Structural Balance, and the author of numerous chapters and journal articles. He has also produced over 16 DVDs and various webinars, with several forthcoming, on BodyReading® visual assessment, Fascial Release Technique®, and the applications of fascial research to body training.

    Thousands of massage therapists, physical therapists, yoga and Pilates instructors, and other movement and manual therapy professionals have received continuing education from Tom and his faculty in Anatomy Trains and holistic myofascial strategies—as well as professional certification in Structural Integration based on the Anatomy Trains Myofascial Meridians.

    In addition to training directly with Drs. Ida Rolf, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Buckminster Fuller, Tom also studied movement and martial arts. His Structural Integration program is influenced by cranial, visceral, and intrinsic movement studies with European schools of osteopathy. He is a member of the International Association of Structural Integrators (IASI) and a member of the health advisory board for Equinox. As a certified Touch-in-Parenting instructor, Tom retains a strong interest in perinatal issues relating to movement.

    Kimberly Ann Johnson, CSB, SEP, SIP

    Founder of Magamama

    Kimberly Ann Johnson specializes in helping women heal from birth injuries, birth traumas, and sexual boundary ruptures. She works at the intersection of pelvic, gynecological, and sexual health.

    As a longtime yoga teacher and Structural Integration practitioner (SIP), her body and life changed dramatically after having a baby. Told she needed a full pelvic floor reconstruction surgery, she traveled the world learning postpartum practices and healed herself from prolapse, hemorrhoids, constant low back and sacral pain, and painful sex.

    She went on to train in Sexological Bodywork, Somatic Experiencing trauma resolution therapy, and Birth Story Medicine to offer holistic care, specializing in the remediation of scar tissue. Kimberly has served over 800 women with private practices in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, Chicago, and San Diego, her hometown.

    Rejecting the reduction of postpartum health to a mental health problem, she wrote the best-selling The Fourth Trimester: A Postpartum Guide to Healing Your Body, Balancing Your Emotions, and Restoring Your Vitality.
