Let go and flow in this unique and creative fusion of yoga, dance, movement, live drumming, and singing to soothe the soul. Afro Flow Yoga founders Leslie Salmon Jones and her husband, multi-instrumentalist Jeff Jones, together create a powerful program to open up and reinforce pathways to effective self-expression and reconnect you to your innermost core.
Classes start out like regular yoga classes, then the African drum encourages you to move your body in rhythmic ways, opening the hips and connecting to the grounding energy of the earth. Let go of self-judgment and judgment of others in this compassionate environment and experience liberation and freedom.
You will tap into the energy of collective consciousness to transform your life in a weekend journey that includes:
- Dances, songs, and stories of the African Diaspora
- Yoga, breathwork, and meditation
- Vocal release exercises
- Story sharing, reflection, and group dialogue
- Rituals to connect to nature and healing.
Together we will celebrate, honor, and respect our shared humanity and cultural differences through the deep wisdom of our personal stories and traditions of our ancestors, bridging cultural divides through ritual, healing, joy, nature and the recognition of our oneness.
Leslie Salmon Jones
Afro Flow Yoga™ founder Leslie Salmon Jones enjoys a career working with clients, students, diverse populations, and community organizations to help develop mastery over their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-beings.
Since dancing at the age of seven, Leslie has been living her dreams as a professional dancer, certified holistic personal trainer, yoga instructor, certified wellness coach, and public speaker.
She completed her BA in interdisciplinary studies in health sciences and dance at SUNY, NYC, and has had the opportunity to study and train with world-renowned masters of dance, yoga and spirituality. It was through her intensive dance training at the Alvin Ailey School in New York that Leslie was first introduced to yoga, and nearly twenty years later she remains dedicated to her yoga practice.
It was the connection with African spirituality, yogic principals, the intrinsic expression of movement through nature’s elements, and a transformational journey throughout Africa and the Caribbean that inspired Leslie to create Afro Flow Yoga in 2008. Along with her husband Jeff Jones, a multi-instrumentalist, recording artist, musical director and cofounder of Afro Flow Yoga, they currently offer classes and workshops around the world.
Afro Flow Yoga has been featured in Yoga Journal, Black Enterprise, and Exhale and on Better Living with Liz Walker and NBC and ABC news. Leslie and Jeff coproduced two wellness DVDs: Core Strength: Back to Basics and Core Power: Radiate the Energy Within.View Bio Page
