Faculty Bio

Lavinia Spalding

Lavinia Spalding is an award-winning writer and editor. She is series editor of The Best Women’s Travel Writing, author of Writing Away: A Creative Guide to Awakening the Journal-Writing Traveler, and coauthor of With a Measure of Grace: The Story and Recipes of a Small Town Restaurant.

She introduced the reissued e-book edition of Edith Wharton’s classic travelogue, A Motor-Flight Through France, and her work has appeared in many publications, including Yoga Journal, Sunset magazine, Tin House, Post Road, and The Best Travel Writing, Volumes 9 and 10.

Lavinia teaches writing and journaling workshops, and works with clients through private editing and coaching. She is a member of the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto, faculty of the annual Book Passage Travel Writers & Photographers Conference, and cofounder of San Francisco’s award-winning monthly reading series Weekday Wanderlust.

She is committed to helping writers find their authentic story and accessing the tools, the voice, and the courage to put it on paper. She currently lives in New Orleans.
