Sound, Mantra, and Sacred Music Training

1440 Multiversity 800 Bethany Drive Scotts Valley,CA 95066

For centuries, music and mantra have been a powerful means to overcome physical and emotional imbalances, and elevate consciousness. In the West, they are often overlooked. In the East, they are an integral part of almost every spiritual practice.

Join sound savants and world-class musicians Silvia Nakkach, MA, MMT, and Shivananda Thomas Amelio to explore the alchemical capacity of sound—how your voice contains the power to purify, protect, and clear the mind. The focus of this weekend workshop will be the science and experience of chanting ancient vibrational healing formulas to activate healing and clear energetic channels.
With special emphasis on the Sanskrit mantras, including powerful one-syllable Beej (seed) mantras of the Yoga tradition, you will explore:

  • How mantra awakens prana (life-force) to engender healing in self and others
  • The different kinds of mantras (purifying, wish-fulfilling, nurturing, healing, and enlightening)
  • The basic alphabet and “language” of the chakras (subtle energy centers)
  • How to develop your own personal practice
  • The role of awareness and breath, mudra (hand seals), bandha (energy “locks”), and kumbhak (breath suspension)
  • How to offer sound meditation and healing to others
  • The role of chitta (consciousness) and how to read your own, and others’, subtle bodies to aid in energetic healing.

Participants will also experience the emotional magic that comes from singing the icaros of the Peruvian Amazon, and will gather an original repertoire of medicine melodies from indigenous traditions of Brazil, Tibet, Africa, and India that can be implemented in shamanic, psychotherapy, and music healing sessions.
Learn why mantra is “that by which one becomes aware of not being different from the Supreme.”
