Faculty Bio

Daniel Amen, MD

Called “the most popular psychiatrist in America,” Dr. Daniel Amen is a physician, double board-certified psychiatrist, and the founder of Amen Clinics. This network of mental and physical health clinics boasts one of the highest published success rates in treating complex psychiatric issues and has built the world’s largest database of functional brain scans, totaling more than 135,000 scans on patients from 111 countries.

Dr. Amen is the lead researcher on the world’s largest brain imaging and rehabilitation study of professional football players, and Amen’s research on post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury was recognized by Discover magazine in its Year in Science issue as one of the 100 Top Stories of 2015.

Dr. Amen is the author of over 30 books, including the #1 New York Times best-seller, Change Your Brain, Change Your Life. His recent titles include The Brain Warrior’s Way and The Brain Warrior’s Way Cookbook, coauthored with his wife, fitness and health enthusiast Tana Amen. Together, David and Tana teach strategies for healthy living.

Tana Amen, BSN, RN

Tana Amen has been a health and fitness enthusiast for more than two decades. A practicing martial artist (tae kwan do and Kenpo Karate black belt) and former neurosurgical intensive care nurse, her mission is to help people realize they aren’t stuck with the brain and body they have.

Tana is the executive vice president of Amen Clinics. Through her website and network of clinics, Tana offers programs, podcasts, and products for healthy living and eating. She is also a nutrition consultant and coach for the Daniel Plan, an inspirational health movement led by Pastor Rick Warren.

Tana is the author of eight highly successful books. Her most recent books, The Brain Warrior’s Way and The Brain Warrior’s Way Cookbook, coauthored with her husband, Dr. Daniel Amen, offer powerful strategies for mastering brain and body health to combat disease, obesity, and depression.

Airing on public television stations nationwide, Tana recently appeared on the OMNI Health Revolution, based on her New York Times best-selling book, The Omni Diet. A nationally-renowned speaker, Tana’s work is deeply informed by her personal journey through her own health.
