Beyond the Surface

A Transformational Fusion of Creativity and Spirituality

1440 Multiversity 800 Bethany Drive Scotts Valley,CA 95066

In this soulful and spirited collaboration, artists and healers Flora Bowley and Cvita Mamic join together to explore the dynamic intersection of creativity, shamanism, and personal growth.

By incorporating mindful movement, writing prompts, guided meditations, and unique, mixed-media creative exercises, you will uncover personal symbols and explore how creativity can serve as a vehicle to access, express, and transform your energy, thoughts, and patterns.

Novice and experienced painters alike will:

  • Take on a new approach to creativity both on and off the paper by digging beneath the surface of daily existence and responding spontaneously to ever-evolving circumstances
  • Have fun diving into the creative process without a preconceived final painting in mind and notice how this transforms your approach to creating your life
  • Allow your artistic expression to unfold organically over time through bold mark-making experiments with color and a curious mind.

Expand your experience of how it feels to enjoy something new, and witness what you are capable of with colorful paints, pastels, and ink at your fingertips. In a supported, creative, and compassionate environment you will experience the healing benefits of the creative process and explore your own unique form of art medicine.

Faculty Bio

Flora Bowley

Flora Bowley is a painter, creative pioneer, gentle guide, and author of Brave Intuitive Painting and Creative Revolution. She believes everyone is born with infinite creative capacity and finding paint underneath your fingernails is the sign of a well-lived day.

Blending more than twenty years of professional painting experience with her background as a yoga instructor, healer, and lifelong seeker, Flora passionately believes creative expression is waiting to unfold within every person who is brave enough to trust, let go, play, and explore.

Flora’s soulful approach to the creative process has sparked a new holistic movement in the intuitive art world—empowering thousands of people to courageously pick up a paintbrush through her intimate workshops, books, and online courses. Her vibrant collection of paintings can be found in galleries and shops and printed on unique products around the world.

Cvita Mamic

Cvita Mamic is an artist, healer, and cofounder of Nihue Rao Centro Espiritual, a plant medicine retreat center in the Peruvian Amazon. Fusing her lifelong passions of painting, plant wisdom, and shamanism, Cvita offers a unique and heartfelt approach to personal healing and transformation.

Following her departure from nursing school, Cvita Mamic began painting and exploring her passion for art and travel. After numerous art exhibits, she travelled to Cambodia where she cofounded the Cambodian Children’s Painting Project.

A few years later, on a quest to heal her inner and outer landscape, Cvita embarked on a six-year apprenticeship in Peru studying plant medicine and shamanism in the Shipibo lineage. In the jungle, her intuitive paintings began to reveal symbols and metaphors reflecting her inner journeys. Inspired by this experience, she created a healing “art maloka” to support others working through trauma, conflict, and personal growth using the creative process.

Cvita believes that any form of creativity or personal expression during a healing process promotes joy, self-awareness, confidence, and renewal.
