Are you ready to let your yoga practice guide you in all areas of your life? Join master teacher Aadil Palkhivala, a disciple of B.K.S. Iyengar, for an immersive study and intimate practice of the foundations of Purna Yoga.

Aadil’s signature style of yoga, which he cocreated with his wife, Savitri, is a holistic synthesis of yogic traditions based on the work of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. His classes are a warm combination of instruction, philosophical insights, poetry, and humor.

This beginner teacher training is a dynamic exploration of yoga methodology, alignment-based asana, Heartfull Meditation, musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology, and nutrition. You will be instructed in how to teach yoga as well as spend time exploring how the practice inspires personal growth and inner wisdom.

Through lecture, demonstration, and lots of hands-on practice, you will learn:

  • How to teach the basics of standing poses, inversions, twists, backbends, and forward bends
  • Purna Yoga’s opening series, morning series, hip-opening series, and classical surya namaskar series
  • The proper posture and instruction for pranayama, including ujjayi breathing
  • How to use props, adjustments, and safety points
  • Timeless spiritual truths and ways to ground them in your everyday life.

Faculty Bio

Aadil Palkhivala

Master yoga teacher Aadil Palkhivala is known as a “teacher of teachers.” He is cocreator, with his wife, Savitri, of Purna Yoga, a holistic synthesis of yogic traditions based on the work of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. His classes are a warm combination of precise instruction, philosophical insights, poetry, and humor.

Aadil began his studies with B.K.S. Iyengar at the age of seven and was the youngest person to be awarded the Advanced Yoga Teacher’s Certificate from Iyengar at the age of 22. He has been training yoga teachers in India, Asia, Europe, and the United States since 1976. In addition to extensive study of Ayurveda, he holds degrees in law, mathematics, and physics.

Aadil writes regularly for Yoga Journal and is a frequent keynote speaker. He is is the author of three teacher training manuals and Fire of Love, a book that seeks to restore the essence of yoga. He is also a certified Shiatsu and Swedish bodyworker, and a clinical hypnotherapist.

He is the founder and director of the Alive and Shine Center in Bellevue, Washington, and Purna Yoga College, a 200-hour, 500-hour, and 2,000-hour teacher training program.

His passion is to create health, wealth, and happiness in the lives of his students who truly embrace Purna Yoga’s teachings and lifestyle.
