Healing Our Nurses
A Program in Support of Our Nursing Workforce

Healing Our Nurses is a restorative three-day, two-night program that is offered free of charge to the participant to support the mental, physical and emotional health of nursing professionals. Born out of a debt of gratitude, this workshop program was designed to support these individuals for their tireless efforts and to help them heal and thrive.
Addressing an Urgent Need
Nursing professionals are battling high rates of burnout along with the impact of moral injury among their colleagues. The retention of skilled staff has become increasingly crucial and challenging, with recent surveys revealing that two-thirds of critical care nurses plan to leave the profession in one year.
Through curated workshop sessions, this immersive experience aims to bring joy and meaning back to the healers who have dedicated themselves to caring, as well as keep them in the profession. This curriculum-based program includes:
- Three-day, two-night program at the 75-acre 1440 campus in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Calif.
- Four faculty-led sessions on topics including From Striving to Thriving, Grief & Healing, Moral Injury Recognition & Care, and Hope: Journey to Joy & Growth
- Up to three signature wellness classes each day, including embodied movement, contemplative practices and nutrition
- All meals served with the 1440 Food As Medicine approach: Locally sourced, sustainable, organic, and nutritious to heal from the inside out
- Time in nature for connection with self and peers; exploration; reflection; healing; and rejuvenation in the redwoods
