What are the main differences between 1440 Multiversity and a hotel?

    • 1440 Multiversity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit learning destination that does philanthropic work based on five learning pillars. Unlike hotels and resorts which operate for profit, all proceeds from 1440 are reinvested into our advocacy work and funds are used for scholarships, grants and to provide financial support to community-building efforts.
    • Guests of 1440 must be pre-registered to attend some form of educational event or meeting where mission-aligned learning is planned - our exempt status prohibits 1440 from providing any services to anyone who is not a registered guest. Hotels are widely open to the general public and can be patronized by overnight guests and non-guests.
    • 1440 offers a minimalist approach to design and function and guests of 1440 are encouraged to spend most of their time outside of their guestroom immersed in scheduled learning classes and engaged in designed community building activities - there are no minibars, televisions, phones, coffee makers or room service available in accommodations at 1440. Hotels offer more of the aforementioned comforts and guests are not required to attend classes or engage in learning activities as a condition of their stay. Traditional resort offerings such as valet parking, bell and concierge services are not offered at 1440.
    • There are no a la carte restaurants or tableside service at 1440. All guests participate in community dining at Kitchen Table where they all enjoy the same plant-based menu items (which change daily) during pre-defined meal service hours.
    • Guests are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles and utilize the complimentary filtered water-filling stations in each building around campus as 1440 does not sell pre-packaged water bottles.
    • Guests of 1440 respect a 10:00 p.m. lights-out and quiet time curfew to afford all guests a good night's rest to optimize the learning experience - all public campus facilities are typically closed at this time.
    • All guests are provided with a daily schedule that includes Signature Classes for movement and contemplative practices facilitated by 1440 teachers at least three times a day.
    • Registered guests at 1440 are not allowed to invite others to visit or meet them at 1440 since the campus is private and closed to all non-registered guests. There are local restaurants and bars nearby should guests wish to meet a friend off-campus.

If I want to book a local weekend getaway, how much does it cost to stay at 1440?

1440 Multiversity has been selected as the site for a multi-year case study dedicated to corporate social responsibility, employee wellness and human flourishing. The research will be performed by an educational institution and the resulting best practices of the study will be published and made available worldwide for public use to optimize health and human performance for all. Until the study concludes, 1440 will not be offering individual weekend getaways.

However, the study will include private mission-aligned group events and continue to support our flagship advocacy programs such as Healing Our Healthcare HeroesTrue North Leadership and Healing Our Education Communities to foster our philanthropic community building efforts.

  • Is the 1440 campus ADA accessible?

Is the 1440 campus ADA accessible?

    • Yes. 1440 is ADA compliant to include, but not limited to, designated ADA room accommodations, accessible ramps, transportation assistance and communication devices. The ADA requires that accessible rooms be "dispersed among the various classes of guest rooms" to provide people with disabilities "choices of types of guest rooms, number of beds, and other amenities comparable to the choices provided to other guests."
    • Since 1440 is the site of a former college, it is important to note that the campus is situated on hilly terrain, and there is not a continuous convenient accessible pathway between points on campus; however, it is accessible.
    • To ensure access between buildings that do not have an accessible path between them, we offer an accessible shuttle. This shuttle is provided to transport guests from parking areas to accessible pathways leading to campus buildings and to transport guests between accessible pathways so that they can enter each building. For additional questions about accessibility and to coordinate your transportation while on campus, please contact us at least two weeks in advance of your arrival at (844) 544-1440 or [email protected]

  • Can I use my portable electronic devices and cell phone in my guest room?

Can I use my portable electronic devices and cell phone in my guest room?

Yes. However, many guests choose to leave their personal electronic devices at home or in their cars to support the natural serene environment. Guests that use their cell phones keep them in silent mode and tend to be connected to 1440's on-site texting tool to receive updates about the status of classes, schedule changes and the like. 1440 discourages cell phone use in public spaces.  Can I use my portable electronic devices and cell phone in my guest room?
