One of Europe’s leading innovators in the field of post-lineage, creative Total Yoga Nidra, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli encountered yoga in 1969, at the age of four, and fell in love. She’s been practicing ever since.
Uma leads retreats internationally, has trained more than one thousand specialist teachers in Total Yoga Nidra and Yoga for Women, and has shared more than a million Total Yoga Nidra practices in twenty different countries, each one uniquely responsive to the moment.
She is the author of five books on yoga, including Yoni Shakti: A Woman’s Guide to Power and Freedom Through Yoga and Tantra, The Celtic School of Yoga, and the forthcoming Nidrā Shakti: An Encyclopaedia of Yoga Nidrā.
Uma spent many years within traditional yoga teaching hierarchies and then she cofounded the post-lineage, nonhierarchical Yoga Nidra Network in 2011. Her passion is to communicate a directly empowered connection to the creative source of life energy in many forms, including Nidra Shakti, the “power of sleep,” and the inspirational active and healing ingredient of all yoga nidra.
Specializing in yoga therapy for women’s health, Uma is a mother of three and her approach is uniquely nondenominational, feminine, and creative. Unlike other approaches, characterized by fixed adherence to a set script, her practices are uniquely improvised through creatively interwoven, intuitive soundscapes of voice, poetry, song, mantra, music, and silence.
