Animated character designer and teacher
Stephen Silver aspired to be a professional artist from a young age. He began his professional career in 1992 drawing caricatures at Sea World, in San Diego.
He has since designed characters for Disney Television Animation, Sony Feature Animation, and Nickelodeon Animation, designing the style of shows such as Kim Possible, Danny Phantom, Kevin Smith’s Clerks: The Animated Series, and many more.
Stephen is the author and artist of eight books on the art of sketching, character design, caricature, and life drawing. In addition to working freelance and giving lectures, he is the owner of Silver Drawing Academy, an art school located in Los Angeles, California. He also teaches two character design courses online at schoolism.com.
He shares art talk discussions weekly on his website, where he has created a place to inspire, encourage, and help guide listeners in attaining their goals. He discusses the business side of art as well as his philosophies and experiences, and gives people industry tips on how to improve their art.
