Nicki Doane has been studying and teaching yoga for more than 30 years. Deeply influenced by the teachings of B. K. S. Iyengar and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois—with whom she studied in India for several years—Nicki’s teaching goes beyond the traditional.
Her vinyasa classes combine asana, pranayama, philosophy, and poetry, helping students create integrity within each pose that can be carried beyond the mat into daily life. She calls yoga a ”life support system,” referring to her firm belief that yoga supports us in all the demands of modern life. Her unique approach to vinyasa yoga strengthens all aspects of being through dynamic structural alignment, conscious breathing, and practical yogic philosophy.
Nicki teaches at yoga studios and conferences throughout the world, and is featured in two Ashtanga Yoga DVDs from Gaiam. She also produced her own series of DVDs in collaboration with her husband, Eddie Modestini, exploring Maya Yoga, their unique approach to helping students find their own sustainable practice.
Nicki and Eddie live in Maui, Hawaii, where they codirect Maya Yoga Studio.
