Maty Ezraty, a prominent figure in modern-day yoga, was one of the first women to study Ashtanga Yoga intensively with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. She is one of the original founders of YogaWorks, the first school of its kind, offering different styles of yoga including Iyengar and Ashtanga, as well as workshops with many of the world’s best-known teachers.
At YogaWorks, which now has more than 30 locations spanning Southern California, Northern California, and New York State, Maty directed and helped shape the highly renowned YogaWorks Teacher Training Program for more than 16 years, training many of today’s leading yoga teachers, including Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Natasha Rizopoulos, and many others.
A dedicated practitioner of Ashtanga for more than 25 years, she has also devoted close to 30 years to studying with senior Iyengar teachers such as Dona Holleman and Gabriella Giubilaro. She has also spent several years studying vipassana meditation at Spirit Rock in Woodacre, California, and at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts.
