Maria Popova is a Bulgarian-born writer, blogger, and literary and cultural critic living in Brooklyn, New York. Her website, Brain Pickings—a collection of writing on culture, art, philosophy, literature, current events, and all kinds of eclectic subjects, is included in the Library of Congress archive of culturally valuable materials.
Maria and her work have been recognized extensively, including in Fast Company’s list of the 100 most creative people in business, in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list of most influential individuals in media, and on Time magazine’s 140 Best Twitter Feeds of 2012. She has written for The New York Times, Wired UK, The Atlantic, and Harvard’s Nieman Journalism Lab, and is an MIT Futures of Entertainment Fellow.
