Maria Mendola is a yoga instructor and Ayurveda practitioner who also teaches movement therapeutics and specialized women’s workshops across the globe. An avid practitioner of yoga for 30 years, she has been teaching for 20 years, manages her own functional yoga therapy school, and maintains a private yoga therapy and Ayurvedic consultation/bodywork practice.
Once told she might never walk again after a debilitating accident, Maria now does every type of movement—including a handstand per day.
She holds several faculty positions across the nation teaching different modalities of yoga therapy. Her certifications include Integrative Yoga Therapy, Structural Yoga Therapy, Trauma Release training, and Ayurvedic Practitioner training. Maria has trained with renowned Ayurveda teachers Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Dr. Sarita Shrestha, Dr. Carl Rogue, and Dr. Paul Dugliss.
She has also studied Trauma Release, the Feldenkrais Method®, kinesiology, homeopathy, nutrition, and Native American herbology. With a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in community health, Maria has practiced as a registered nurse (rehabilitation and women’s health) and taught nursing sciences as well as anatomy and physiology—all the while focusing on holistic aspects of health and well-being.
