Writing teacher and best-selling author
Laura Davis is the author and coauthor of seven nonfiction books, including The Courage to Heal, Becoming the Parent You Want to Be, and I Thought We’d Never Speak Again. Laura’s groundbreaking books have sold more than 1.8 million copies worldwide. She is currently completing a memoir, Wholehearted, based on her tumultuous—and ultimately healing—relationship with her mother.
What Laura loves most in her work is building community and facilitating the use of writing as a transformative tool. She leads weekly writing groups in Santa Cruz, California, and inspirational writing retreats around the country, including an annual fall retreat: Writing as a Pathway Through Grief, Loss, Uncertainty and Change.
Laura also leads Write, Travel, Transform trips each year, combining ecotourism, adventure, writing, and yoga. She has taken writers to Bali, Greece, Scotland, Vietnam, Laos, and Peru’s Sacred Valley. Her free online writing community, The Writer’s Journey Roadmap, sends out writing prompts every Tuesday.
Laura and her partner of 29 years live in Santa Cruz and have been blessed with three grown children and three grandchildren.
