Laraine Herring is an accomplished writer and teacher with an MFA in creative writing and an MA in counseling psychology. Her workshops blend curiosity, play, and keen self-observation, using breath, movement, and the wisdom of the body to help writers break through creative blocks.
Building on a 25-year foundation of teaching the craft of writing and a 20-year practice of yoga, she merges mind and body to help people create dynamic stories. She is the director of the creative writing program at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona, and works as a book consultant for Tracking Wonder. She is also the founder and Head Monkey of Fierce Monkey Tribe, and serves as faculty for the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.
Winner of the Barbara Deming Award for Women and the author of three novels, Laraine has also written Writing Begins with the Breath, The Writing Warrior (named by Poets & Writers Magazine as a top 10 book for writers), and On Being Stuck: Tapping into the Creative Power of Writer’s Block.
