Gayle Ober, MNM
Expert on nonprofit leadership and development, patron of the arts
Recognized as an ethical and people-focused leader, Gayle Ober is an experienced CEO in the philanthropic and nonprofit sector. She is president of the George Family Foundation, a private foundation with an interest in integrative medicine and health, authentic leadership, spirituality, and the community. With expertise in executive leadership, fund development, and cultural policy, Gayle oversees all of the foundation’s operations, including strategic planning, grantmaking, finances, and community outreach.
With a master’s degree in nonprofit management and a bachelor’s degree in music, Gayle’s expertise blends an appreciation for the arts with strong business acumen. Prior to joining the foundation, she was the managing director of classical music programming for American Public Media/Minnesota Public Radio. She also served as the director of arts, culture, and entertainment for the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and as the executive director of the Dale Warland Singers.
Dedicated to preparing the next generation of nonprofit leaders, Gayle spent from 2011 to 2017 as a graduate-level instructor in the University of Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Leadership program and continues to serve as a member of the program’s faculty advisory council. An advisor and mentor to emerging nonprofit leaders, she is also a guest lecturer at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Her board involvements include Sawmill Management Corporation, the Penny George Institute Foundation at Allina Health, and the Community Advisory Council of the Minneapolis Foundation’s Catalyst Initiative.
